“Think of all the girls who could become top athletes but quit sports because they’re afraid of having too many defined muscles and being made fun of or called unattractive”

— Serena Williams

About the founder

Founder, Emma Lotts, developed the Female Athlete Movement her sophomore year of high school after realizing the lack of female participation in sports and sports management/entertainment. Emma was introduced to sports at a young age. By 11 months old she could kick a soccer ball and by age 2 she knew how to ice skate. Since she was a young girl, Emma has competitively taken up ice skating, swimming, soccer, golf, and volleyball. She attributes her love of athletics and competitive personality to her father, Andy Lotts. Andy has also been an athlete since he was young and played high school tennis and club hockey. He then played professional hockey for The Lake Arrowhead Sharks, The El Paso Rattlers, and The Santa Barbra Sand Sharks before attending the University of Michigan. At Michigan he served as the ice hockey teams film coach. He made coaching into his career and coaches physical education at all levels along with high school Varsity Girls Golf and Varsity Boys Baseball at The Buckley School in Los Angeles.

Emma believes that sports have shaped her into who she has become. Without her early introduction to sports, she believed she would be a completely different person. She wants to encourage and inspire girls to play sports and get active!
